St. Maximus is a quickly-growing parish located in an attractive Victorian neighborhood. They wanted a design that would look Texan as well as Orthodox, and welcoming to people of both American and ethnic backgrounds. Andrew decided to draw from old Spanish mission churches to give the Byzantine architecture a Texas flair, with decorative parapets and exposed beams. Other details, like the red arches and metal roof, are typical of old buildings in the Denton/Fort Worth area.
